Jackson Elementary students, staff and community volunteers came together on April 2, 2025, to celebrate the completion of 35 quilts during the 2024-25 school year.
Thirty-three students in 3rd-5th grades had the opportunity to make a difference in the Jackson community through quilting.
Quilting students were purposefully selected to develop a skill set in the areas of: leadership, a sense of belonging, a sense of self, academic achievement or school engagement.
The Calvary Quilters from Calvary Lutheran Church partnered with Jackson Elementary School to quilt and teach the students quilting skills. This was the third year of the partnership.
As a special surprise during the celebration, the Calvary Quilters presented Jackson Elementary with a custom Jackson quilt for display.
The 35 quilts will be donated to families in need next school year. Twenty-two quilts were completed during the 2023-24 school year that were donated this year.
